Hello everyone who has viewed or views this thread! I am the owner and creator of Planet Troi, and although some rude and hateful people have made the suggestion several times to close the room, i have never listened to that and wont ever close the room!
I would like to get some opinions on some changes to the room and maybe some things that could be added to maek the room better....
I have been rpign in marvel alot recently and I am considering applying some of the things i ahve learned there to my own room, such as a stats system or a stable combat environment...
any suggestions are welcome...but please keep it civilized...thanks...

Here's a suggestion...if you don't like the rules why did you come in to begin with?
The rules are there for reasons other than to make the guests happy. They are there to keep the room running smoothly.
It's a very simple really.
Don't like the rules? Leave the entrance page.

that is a valid point laces, i sometimes forget that rules are set down for that specific reason, although he is not the first to mention that i have too much power, although i never really thought about it til now, but your poitn is valid, i welcome your suggestoin and should put you on council, i swear i should

I'll agree on one thing... Equality is important.
It's true, rules are set in place to keep things running smoothly, but when the rules make things unfair to other players, then things really aren't running smoothly, are they?
And now now Brandon, don't be kissing the behind of someone just because they're on your side... And don't forget, the whole point of this is to figure out what people like and dislike. Michael Shadows isn't the first one to bring up that point, and it's a common complaint that brings about your unpopularity.

hmm, this is true, although the rules are in place for a reason, it probably would nto hurt to once again re arrange them, i will put that on my to do list once chris returns...since he is the onlyone who could help with that, he is the one who wrote the rules in the first place....he is also a high council member...

General idea, if you did not want characters to be able to Die, then make the room a "no Kill Zone"
It's a Role Playing Game.... Characters die in a RPG.
If your character dies you make up a new one.

Maybe there can be a subroom that's a killzone?

hmm, well E person, perhaps you should register on teh board and reveal your identity...and technicalyl serverus is a kill zone, except when attacking the ruler of the room, that my friend is a big no no and wont be allowed...although troi is a no kill zone but am told techniclay it fits into a limited kill zone classification...and parts of troi itself are actualy a full kil zone, liek the vampire sections...however for me makign a new character is simply somethign not acceptable...as myself i take the game very seriously, and while some characters are expendable and i can let go, others however are sentimentally linked to me and i wont ever let die...unless in a planned out RP in wwhich case i hold the option of revival after a couple months time hs passed

I like to expand on what Brandon has said here cause he is onto something very old in the game world. There are a few things about npcs and I don't care what anyone says, you run a room, a game, anything and you play a character it might as well be considered an npc and plot device cause you spend more time plotting the adventures and such.
Now in some cases there are what we call, Stat-less characters. These characters have no stats an thus are unkillable and even more so they have whatever stats you need them to have when you require it of them. These are your big bad guys in your story. The one who shows up and taunts the players and if they try to attack, they can't do anything against it.
Now is this right? Not really but as a Dungeon Master (or whatever you call yourself) you have to stretch the rules in your favor sometimes to make a story flow. However before you can bend the rules you must first know them and understand them to bend them. Now this is a loaded gun in some cases. It should never be abused. Rule of thumb is if you don't want someone dead, then don't suse them cause once you enter that roleplay ring of probability then all bets are off. Anything can happen.
Second is what we call the Doombot Scenario, in the Fantastic Four whenever the FF defeat Doctor Doom, he's always a Doombot or a clone. This is a last minute switch aroo on the ST's part. The Fantastic Four without Doctor Doom are nothing in ways of having obstacles. However in this case you don't want to rob your players of a sense of accomplishment. So they stop Doom's nuclear device from destroying the United Nations and stop Doom himself. Oh no! Doctor Doom's a robot! But don't worry, Reed, we stopped him from destroying world order. So there, even though they didn't keep Doom down that time, they did indeed stop him.
I think if Brandon wants a stable of characters which are 'un-killable' there's nothing wrong with that. It's all a matter of how he presents it and how he uses them. Stat-less characters can enhance any game when used with care and caution.

Hmm, i like this idea, and if i can get any help with developing this idea more, i would be most greatful, i can see your views on that, and am tryign my hardest to learn new things and adapt my room to be more welcoming and not so much childish, as it is called sometimes. I really do hope to learn and grow as a room owner and this suggestin of you first time caller is a very good one, and i will need alot of help with it, but i do try my best to be fair to everyone when i RP and when i first started i was a bit childish and only did things my way, but i have grown over the past few years and treid to improve myself adn my room with any hlep i get...thank you for your suggestion and any more help is appreciated!
